Dissolving the fog
Do you ever get the sense that there is too much noise around .. too many voices in the head .. a sense of being constantly switched on, with too little time for yourself?
Does the body feel tense and restless too?
You may agree that these are common symptoms of our time. With all the stimulation around, where should we be placing our attention?
Many of these symptoms can be prevented or eased through the training of attention, which is foundational for the practice of mindfulness.
When we learn to regulate our attention, we learn to NOT get swept away by our thoughts or get stuck in unhelpful habits.
By coming back again and again to the present moment, the ‘fog’ in the mind begins to lift .. we start seeing our thoughts and how we interact with them more clearly. We learn to manage distractions more wisely.
With this clarity and regulating capacity, comes choice .. knowing when it’s time to get a task done, time for a pause, time for family and friends, time for entertainment and time for rest.
All of this with the foundational attitudes of curiosity and care ..
